How to view your Dubsado Forms as if you were a client

When you’re building your forms you’ll want to view them as if you were a client. When working on your forms, it’s important to check how your leads, prospects and clients will see your proposals and forms.

There are a few ways to do this which I’ve outlined below.

Assign The Form To A Client

Once you’ve assigned the form to a client you can simply copy the link, you can then open that link in another window. If you open it up in the same window in which you are logged in to Dubsado, you’ll notice you cannot see the submit button. To be able to see the form as if you were a client, you’ll need to be logged out. The quickest way to do that would be to open it in an incognito browser.

However, it’s worth noting that if this is an active client rather than a test client opening the form in an incognito browser will trigger the Client Viewed field.

Direct Link

For some form types, Dubsado will provide you a direct link.

There are certain rules that you need to follow to make your form shareable, without specific mapped fields and public proposal settings, your share button will be greyed out. In order to use the share button, the form must be a public proposal, and you must have three required mapped short answer fields on your proposal, Client First Name, Client Last Name and Client Email.

You’ll also need to go to the form settings tab and make sure it is a public form, in proposals. you’ll also need to make sure “Create a new project when this proposal is completed?” is selected “Yes”.

Next go to the sharing tab and you’ll find the direct link.

URL Edit

Similarly to the direct link, this will only work for proposals & lead captures. But this will work for forms that don’t have mapped fields or private forms.

If you’d like to view a questionnaire without going through the hassle of adding it to a client, I’d suggest dragging it into the proposal column whilst editing it, then dragging it back across when you’re finished.

This method is a slight work around for forms that don’t fit the Dubsado requirements for the share button. You can manually create the share URL when the button is inactive.

When you’re in Dubsado editing your form you’ll see the URL looking something like this one:

The beginning of the URL will always be the same, and it will be followed by your form’s id (the long series of random letters and numbers at the end).

You simply need to update this url to:

https://hello.dubsado.com/public/form/view/formid

We’ve added /public/ after dubsado.com and we’ve changed edit to view.

You can also just copy this url and replace your form ID at the end.

You can then copy & paste this link into any browser. It’s best to use a browser where you are not logged in to ensure you can see the form exactly as a client would, the easiest way to do this would be to open an incognito browser window.
